San Juan Books Presents Its Special Authors: Meet Joshua Shea

Image
San Juan Books is the hybrid division of MSI Press LLC. It allows first-time writers to become published in a traditional way through the reduction of risk by sharing publication costs. All other publishing features are traditional in nature, and most SJB authors go on to be offered traditional contracts for their subsequent books. SJB publications are available as paperback, hard cover, and e-book versions. SJB authors' books very much hold their own against their contemporaries in the traditional publishing division. Indeed, a number of them have outsold their traditional compatriots. Today, San Juan Books presents author Joshua Shea. Together with Tony Overbay, Joshua published He's a Porn Addict....Now What?   Her book has garnered many positive comments, and he has appeared on dozens of podcasts. Subsequently, he was offered a traditional contract for a much-needed book during the pandemic,  Porn and the Pandemic: How Three Months in 2020 Changed Everything. To see more

From the Blog Posts of MSI Press Author, Joshua Shea: Dusting Off

Joshua Shea ( He's a Porn Addict...Now What? and Porn and the Pandemic ) writes:  Sometimes you look for a little place to write something that’s hidden away from all but a few in this world. This blog was my place in early recovery. I looked at my stats the other day for the first time in a while, and two things jumped out at me. First, 2023 is the seventh calendar year that I’ve been operating this blog. It started back in late 2017. Second, 2022 was biggest year, despite only putting up 9 postings (compared to 41 in 2021) and 2023 is already on track to be an even bigger year. Porn Companies Doing Big Business, Recruitment during Social Distancing (guest post by Joshua Shea)

Image
Joshua Shea, co-author of He's a Porn Addict...Now What? , has done some unsettling reserarch. He shares it with us in today's guest post.: When Donald Trump went on TV that Wednesday night in early March as one of the last people to admit what many of us had come to recognize in the previous 72 hours – the Coronavirus was the real deal – one of my first thoughts went to how this was going to be the single greatest boon to the pornography industry since the invention of the Internet. We’re still in it – probably not even at the halfway point – and it turns out, I was unfortunately correct. As much as I detest PornHub, I’ve got to give them credit for the statistics they provide. Granted, they are not independently verified and sometimes they leave out crucial information (such as ignoring the fact “teen” is a popular search term in their annual report) but I think they are providing a unique window into what is happening. In late February and into the first week of March

Daily Excerpt: Joshuanism (Tosto): The Three Cornerstones

Image
Excerpt: The Three Cornerstone [of Joshuanism] Humans have become isolated creatures. They spend most of their time alone, behind windshields and computer screens. Christians are not immune to this increasing isolation. Even when they come together for small groups or Bible studies, there is still a very private element to the way they communicate with one another. How many people actually tell the truth about what is really going on in their lives or their minds? How many people really admit how messed up their world is? How many people divulge their needs of the moment? Very few. Why is it only a few? Because no one wants anyone else to know that his life is not the picture perfect scene that it appears to be on the surface. Christian churches are just as isolated as the people in them. Most of them sequester themselves away from other churches just a few blocks down the street. Why? Because one church does things one way, and another church does things a different way. God forbid

Guest Post from MSI Press Author, Joshua Shea: TikTok?

Image
Have you ever found yourself learning a different way of doing something and then regretting all the inefficient time and effort you spent initially doing things the wrong way? I always feel like that when I'm trying to change a tire or work on a project around the house. How many hours have I lost in my life prior to buying an electric screwdriver? Writing books is just one of the ways that I conduct my outreach to the pornography addiction and betrayal trauma communities. I also coach, but I have a fairly large presence on social media and have appeared on more podcasts talking about these subjects than anybody else in the last five years. I thought I had all of my bases covered. Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram were perfect for hitting the communities I most thought needed my message. Facebook is political opinion I don't want to get into, Snapchat appears like it's mainly to trade naked pictures and TikTok just seemed like my kids' friends acting their age and I do
