Daily Excerpt: Journal for Distinguished Language Journals: Rethinking the Rating Process

Image
The Journal for Distinguished Language Studies has been issued by MSI Press since 2003. The newest issue, 2021-2022 will be out in December and has some really thrilling articles (for an academic journal).  Information about the journal, including a rolling call for papers, can be found at the journal's website page. It is not too early to consider a submission for the next issue (2023-2024). These articles require much experience and knowledge of the highest levels of language learning and teaching; therefore, articles take a lot of time to write, review, and revise prior to publication. Some of the articles in the issue about to be released began their journey in 2020.  An excerpt from the journal is posted on the journal page. MSI Press is proud of William Hopkins, who has spent a career interpreting Russian-English for heads of state. In this photo, he is on the floor beside Reagan, interpreting for Reagan and Gorbachev. (Interpreters work under some difficult conditions.) Bill related his professional life story, including how he acquired such high level proficiency in Russian, in Volume 8 of Journal for Distinguished Language Studies. Just Released: Journal for Distinguished Language Studies, Volume 7, 2011-2020

Joining our other volumes of this journal -- as well as our other respected foreign language books -- is Volume 7 of the Journal for Distinguished Language Studies . Volume 7 represents a gap year, as the Journal picks up issuance with a new publisher, MSI Press LLC. The purpose of the  Journal for Distinguished Language Studies  (ISSN 1547-7819) is to provide a forum for exchanging information about teaching to and reaching near-native foreign language proficiency for teachers, learners, and professional language users. Areas of interest include research, theory, and practical application. The  Journal for Distinguished Language Studies  has been published annually since 2003. Issue 7 is an exception to the publication schedule and is intended as a bridge issue between the early years, 2003-2010, and the current years, 2020 and later. In the early years, the  Journal for Distinguished Language Studies  was published by the Coalition of Distinguished Language Centers, which closed in
