Introducing Dr. Syed Arshad Husain, MSI Press Author


Syed Arshad Husain, M. D., is a child psychiatrist known worldwide for his work with children living in war zones and disaster areas. Dr. Husain founded the International Center for Psychosocial Trauma at the University of Missouri, and counseling centers in Bosnia, Kosovo, and an Afghan refugee camp in Pakistan.

 He has published scientific articles in major peer-reviewed journals in the U.S. and Canada, and has written five books including Hope for the Children: Lessons from Bosnia.

 He has received numerous awards from major professional societies including the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; 2014 awards include the National Council for Behavioral Health Doc of the Year and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Catcher in the Rye award. He was given an Honorary Ph.D. by the University of Tuzla, Bosnia.

 Currently, he is Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and Child Health at the University of Missouri–Columbia and serves as a medical director of a large behavioral health organization in Missouri.

 In 2016, he received the coveted Citation of Merit Award from the Missouri University School of Medicine Alumni Association.

His MSI Press book, Roadmap to Power, co-authored with A. Darius Husain, has been recommended by US Review of Books, highly reviewed by a number of individuals and websites, and received a bronze medal from Readers' Favorites.

  1948-2021 It is with great sadness that MSI Press notes the death of Carl Leaver, CEO of the Press and typesetter and graphic designer par excellence . Many authors have expressed not only condolences but also a sense of legacy from covers he designed that they love.  Here is his obituary: On August 16, 2021, Carl Don Leaver of San Juan Bautista passed into eternal rest. A forester with the US Forest Service in Idaho and Montana, he turned to nature photography while working in the Bitterroot National Forest. His photographs graced national magazine covers and on a weekly basis the local paper of Hamilton, MT, the Ravalli Republican. He later worked on photography projects for the US Army (AFEES) and taught photography at the New York Institute of Technology in Amman, Jordan. A Publisher's Conversation with Authors: Book Marketing vs Book Promotion

It is Tuesday. Monday's madness is over, and Wednesday will take us over the hump, so Tuesday it is--for some serious discussion with authors.
