Try making cards of: ● words in a story that your child is about to read for the first time so he can practice them before encountering them in the story; ● particularly difficult words in a story that your child is having trouble with; ● sentences with those tricky words in them so that he can practice the words in context; you may even try putting the word alone on one side of the card and a sentence containing that word on the other for reference if the word alone cannot be read; ● ...
