    Excerpt from   Heart to Heart Resuscitation: My Journal  by Victor Montgomery III --   Third Pathway We made a conscious effort, a decision, to connect with others and reconnect with the person each of us was before the trauma. The time has come to be coached, seeking the positive power of choice versus being victimized by past experiences of war and seeking the meaning to having survived. We must honestly and openly begin to find relief by seeking help from a power greater than ourselves, and from other people we can learn from and begin to trust. To find relief, we seek a source of help from veteran buddies whom we can learn to trust to help us renew our understandings of human emotions and spiritual qualities we fear we have lost. And we must come to a place when we are ready to make a genuine decision to turn our will and our life over to the care of God as we understand God. We must trust in this decision.
