Starting in August, we will share near-daily, as possible, reviews of the monthly book jewel - short, succinct reviews that can be read in 1-2 minutes with links to the reviewer by reviewers whose words are worthy of being heard and whose opinions are worthy of being considered. Sometimes a couple of minutes contains more impressive thought than ten times that many. We will let you decide that. This month's book jewel is  The Optimistic Food Addict  by Christina Fisanick. Amazon review by Frequent Amazon Shopper - Short, honest memoir I thought this book was well-written and fairly concise. It's not a step-by-step guide to recovery from binge eating disorder, it's a personal account of one woman's journey from childhood to adulthood, from bingeing to early recovery. She touches on the fact that the intuitive eating model of recovery doesn't work for her and explai

Book Review: Grace Jackson, Instagram Influencer, Reviews GodSway (Keathley)

Image
Here is the review in its entirety: Diana Skidmore Keathley's memoir,  GodSway , is an extraordinary testament to a life shaped by divine encounters and unwavering faith. The narrative unfolds as a journey marked by early messages from God, intertwined with episodes of overwhelming fear that crescendo into a harrowing attack. Keathley, in her vulnerability, confronts God's love head-on, paving the way for a transformative response that defines the rest of her life. The book captures the essence of a life in dialogue with the divine, chronicling a poignant challenge to God that becomes a turning point. In the crucible of this challenge, the author's audacious faith is not only affirmed but rewarded with a celestial outpouring of messages, dreams, and outright miracles. Keathley emerges as a woman shaped by these experiences, embodying audacious faith in a Creator who is both powerfully loving and intimately involved.   In Psychology Today , Dr. Kristin Wilcox, co-author of the award-winning book,  Andrew's Awesome Adventures with His ADHD Brain , reviewed  I Love My Kids, But I Don't Always Liked Them   by Franki Bagdade. She writes: [Right-sizing expectations] is a major theme throughout the book. Understanding your child and what is reasonable for you to expect from them is crucial to the parent–child relationship. I know my ADHD son will not listen to me if he is hyperfocused on a particular task, yet I still get annoyed when I am talking to him and being ignored. It took some time, and learning about his ADHD, to realize he does not ignore me on purpose; he truly doesn’t hear me speaking to him when his ADHD brain is otherwise engaged. I need to get his attention first or wait until he reaches a break in what he is doing before discussing something with him. I had to right size my expectations for how my son behaves, and how his ADHD brain works. It is all about setting reasonable expec
