About That Cat, Sula

Easter at the Mission
What a delightful and beautiful work. This wonderful read speaks with clarity about the true meaning of Easter through the eyes of a truly magical earless cat named Sula. With gentle paws she nudges you and teaches in the most engaging manner. A special treat are the many photos of Sula, with the visitors to Mission San Juan Bautista. This is a book which will give you a special joy, knowledge and a feeling of peace. It is a special gift from a very special feline. ENJOY (Loryn Ross, Goodreads)

Saints I Know

"Saints I Know" is comprised of descriptions of the lives of 21 saints (in both their imperfection and perfection) which were selected on their relationship to a Franciscan Mission called the Old Mission San Juan Bautista -- as told through the eyes of the Mission's cat. The sections showcased in the pages of "Saints I Know" include saints related to the founding of the mission (St. Francis, St. John the Baptist, and St. Juniper Serra), the Holy parents (Mary and Joseph), saints whose statues are behind the altar in the Mission, patron saints of animals, patron saints of children, and the favorite saints of the parish priest. Each individual saint has his or her icon and DOB-DOD included. Of special note is the inclusion of a final section that addresses future saints. While very highly recommended and informatively inspiring, it should be noted for personal reading lists that "Saints I Know" is also available in a digital book format. (MidWest Book Review)

Once you meet Sula through the pages of this book, you won’t soon forget her. While it’s Sula’s “meowmoir,” it’s also the story of those whose lives she’s impacted and an inside look at California’s Spanish mission. Whether you’re a religious person or not, the history is fascinating, and the connection she has with the people she’s drawn to is undeniable. I’ve always said if there is such a thing as angels on earth, they come in the form of fur and four legs; at least, I know that’s how they’ve’ always presented themselves in my own life. Sula is further proof of what I’ve suspected all along. - Melissa’s Mochas, Mysteries, and Meows blog
