Book Jewel of the Month: From Deep Within (Lewis) - Reviewed by Bastis

What is a book jewel? A sometimes-overlooked book with remarkable insight and potential significance. Starting in August, we will share near-daily, as possible, reviews of the monthly book jewel - short, succinct reviews that can be read in 1-2 minutes with links to the reviewer by reviewers whose words are worthy of being heard and whose opinions are worthy of being considered. Sometimes a couple of minutes contains more impressive thought than ten times that many. We will let you decide that.

This month's book jewel is From Deep Within by Susan Lewis, Ph.D., J.D.

From Kimberly Bistis on Amazon:

As a psychologist, I constantly read case studies. From Deep Within is a unique addition. The book speaks about hopeless, helpless patients that fall through the cracks in our system. It is not only their sad stories of loss or abuse that are compelling, but Dr. Lewis’ speaking about her own responses to them. This book has a different view - from within the mind and heart of a skilled and compassionate psychologist - sexual perpetrators, patients who are severely mentally ill, murderers, inmates...these are not people you will find on the front page of newspapers, rather those far behind them. It is a wonderful read - captivating, moving, sorrowful, but never without hope. I recommend it highly - you will not be disappointed.
