excerpt from  Everybody's Little Book of Everyday Prayers  (MacGregor): -  General Prayers Communicating with God for Adults and Children  Sometimes you want to talk to God when it isn’t an occasion or specified time of day and when there isn’t something happening in your life that you want to ask God for or thank God for. You just feel a need to reach out to Him and talk to Him. You might be inspired by an especially pretty sunset, or there may be something else that you want to say that doesn’t fall under a particular prayer category.  I’ve always wondered whether God likes those prayers best—when He hears from us when we want to talk to Him, not to ask him for something or to pray at a time we think we’re supposed to, but “just because.” Don’t you appreciate the phone call from a friend who says, “I was thinking about you, so I thought I’d pick up the phone and say hi”? Don’t you appreciate the spontaneous kiss from your child—or from anyone else—that isn’t a ‘H

excerpt from  Everybody's Little Book of Everyday Prayers  (MacGregor): -  Prayers for Everyday Occasions  If you’re a person who likes to offer prayers before meals, at bedtime, or on other such specified occasions, you’ll find prayers here that should suit your needs. Here are prayers for both adults and children, starting with prayers you can offer to God on first arising or from within your bed as you wake up. And doesn’t it help make you feel a little bit more centered to say good morning to God and thank Him for a new day before you get going and face the day’s stresses?  Morning prayer – new day  Dear God, thank You for this new morning, a new start, and a new opportunity, as always. Help me to make the most of the day ahead and not to for get to thank You for whatever blessings this day brings me. Amen.  ##### Dear God, on this new morning I thank You for new beginnings. Every day is a chance to start over and improve my life. Please help me to recognize opport

The Story behind the Book: Everybody's Little Book of Everyday Prayers (MacGregor)

Image
From the publisher --  The story behind Everybody's Little Book of Everyday Prayers  by Cynthia MacGregor -  This book was originally published as an e-book (and perhaps that is the better format). However, when Cyn came to me after the original publisher went out of business, I saw a happy coincidence in that we had an artist, Zhenya Yanovich , respected and beloved in his native Russia, who was very talented at drawing for children. It seemed like a perfect marriage. So, we offered Cyn a small advance, got Zhenya to draw (his cover drawing is one of my favorites to date), and on we moved. The book has times of being loved and times of being forgotten. It does not help that both author and artist have died, the latter at a very young age and very unexpectedly. Still, the book sells, and more important, it provides prayers for those who may be struggling for words on just about any time. For more posts about Cyn and her book, click HERE . Author Interview: Interview with Cynthia MacGregor - A Posthumous Voice

Image
This interview was taken several years ago but never ended up un the blog until now. Although Cyn has passed (recently), it seems as good a time as any to share her interview (and her legacy). Name: Cynthia MacGregor Book: Everybody’sLittle Book of Everyday Prayers Date of Interview: 8/4/18 Who are you? What do you want readers to know about you? I’m the author of over 100 books, some for adults (mostly nonfiction ), some for kids (mostly fiction). I also do freelance writing for clients (biz writing, blog writing, ghostwriting, etc—just about anything except grant proposals) and editing (books, biz materials—whatever’s needed) Why are you qualified to write this book? Although I’m an ordained New Thought minister, I feel my true qualification for writing the book is not my ministerial status but rather my desire to help other people connect to God as I have, and my God-given ability to write, which enabled me to create the prayers in the book. What is the message of your b
