  Today's shared blog post comes from Franki Bagdade, author of the award-winning book (IAN Book of the Year, Literary Titan gold medal), I Love My Kids, But I Don't Always Like Them . In her post, Franki writes: Halloween was my Dad’s favorite holiday. My mom would pull out old decorations held together by masking tape and memories and we’d work together to decorate our big picture windows. My Dad would carve elaborate pumpkins, one year making a cabbage patch kid to my pure delight as a child of the 80’s. I have a more complicated relationship with Halloween. Actual pink-colored pumpkins grown for breast cancer awareness. Check out this Huff Post article about farmers who grow these pink pumpkins. A company that sells pink pumpkin shirts. There are several styles. Check them out HERE . Finally, read an inspiring article about "The Power of Pink" at the blog, A Fish Who Likes Flowers, written by Bethany, who also designed the pumpkin in the image above. Seriously, worth a read -- and a good blog to follow.   Yes, our book, Dia de Muertos is about the Mexican holiday, Day of the Dead, that occurs the day after Halloween, but these days have much in common -- and not. Happy Halloween from Sula the Cat

  Every year, Sula, parish cat at Old Mission San Juan Bautista, who takes care of the Mission, gift shop, and parishioners, dresses up for Halloween and has a great time greeting customers at the gift shop as well as at Mass. This year, Sula has done something special for Halloween. She has written a book, Dia de Muertos , about Day of the Dead that occurs at the same time, and she lists all the differences between the two holidays. See that except HERE .
