From the Blog Posts of MSI Press Author, Nanette Hucknall: Joy As a Practice of Opening Your World

Image
The following post, appearing last year on Nanette Hucknall's blog, is timeless. The topic is joy -- as an antidote to a world filled with fear. Nanette writes: Joy is often portrayed as a grandiose and euphoric emotion, but a touch of joy can be uncovered in many simple, small encounters of our daily lives. Being enchanted by a piece of music, glimpsing a shifting sunset or catching the sound of children laughing as you pass them playing on the sidewalk –  to name a few. It is felt in any relationship where love, or even a gentle, respectful kinship is present. Joy abounds in nature – the hearty resilience of a stretching flower, a chilly breeze on your warm face or the scent of a nearby body of water and all its brisk beauty.  Read the rest of the post HERE . Daily Excerpt: The Rose and the Sword (Bach and Hucknall) - Introduction

Image
excerpt from The Rose and the Sword (Bach & Hucknall) Introduction                  The popular ideal of finding one’s “soul mate” in a partner stems from the relationship between the two basic energies that exist, beyond gender and sexual identity, in each of us. We all possess a mix of these energies. When the inner feminine energy is weak and the inner masculine energy is dominant, a person loses his or her inner direction, for feminine energy is like a guiding system; without its guidance, actions can lead to unchecked aggression. When the inner masculine energy is undeveloped and the inner feminine energy is strong, swirls of inspired thought dissolve like mist, ungrounded in the action needed for manifestation. When these two energies are equally developed, the individual is richly endowed with inspiration and intuition (the feminine) as well as the ability to express these riches in the world (the masculine).              In The Rose and the Sword: How to Balance Your Fem

Daily Excerpt: How to Live from Your Heart (Hucknall): From Chapter 5, The Heart's True Functions

Image
Excerpt from How to Live from Your Heart : The Heart’s True Functions  The heart chalice has many functions. Some of these were mentioned in the last chapter on the different types of energy that pass through the heart. Besides energy, the heart also contains knowledge that is part of a person’s individuality. The individuality is comprised of all the positive and negative characteristics that have been played out and accumulated through many lifetimes. If you don’t believe in past lives, you can call these accumulations part of the collective unconscious, a term coming from the research of Carl Jung, a famous psychotherapist in the last century.  These accumulations carry aspects of the different cultures on the planet, and those aspects in turn constitute hidden qualities that can emerge during your lifetime. If your heart is functioning with the positive qualities, then you will appear to others as a warm-hearted, kind, and loving person. If your heart is functioning w

Valentine's Day Special Excerpt from How to Live from Your Heart (Hucknall): Motivational Energy

Image
5. Motivational energy is something that is unique in the human condition. What is it, you may ask? One example: When you need to accomplish a task you really don’t want to do, you need to reach up and bring into your being a feeling, such as determination, which is a quality of the will, to help you do the task without procrastination. Even if the task is one that you really want to do, sometimes that energy has to be kindled in order to accomplish it. Reviewing why the task is important to do, and re-choosing it, can be helpful. The energy comes directly from your will. Will energy, used correctly, motivates a person to carry through with a project and finish it. It also helps someone to look at all the possibilities that a project may have, in order to begin and finish it.  It is an energy that needs to be learned through good, practical skills. Sometimes a person knows how to complete a project, but simply gets stuck and can’t move forward. That’s when she needs to focus on the wi

Excerpt from How to Live from Your Heart (Hucknall): What Is Heart Energy?

Image
Photo from "Feeling Your Life's Energy," The Light Gap https://www.thelightgap.com/feeling-hearts-energy/ HEART ENERGY – WHAT IS IT? Heart energy flows through the heart from a source in the universe. Different religious sects label this source according to their belief systems. It can be called God, Brahma, Shiva, The Divine Mother, etc. Essentially, this energy comes from a Higher source and passes through several stages before reaching an individual. It flows through the heart center in waves, very much like solar energy. These waves of energy change as they pass through the heart. They vary according to the makeup of the individual and also in the way that the individual uses them. With each use of the heart, these waves become stronger and purer. They vibrate in the heart center and affect others. Again, this energy is as strong as the individual’s capacity to contain it and use it. The heart that is activated with this energy uses it for its many functions
