Introducing Renyuan Dong: MSI Press Author

Image
Renyuan Dong works as a senior healthcare consultant based in Tokyo. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in both philosophy and economics, speaks three languages – English, Chinese and Japanese – and boasts of having traveled to over 30 countries. Most of the ideas presented in his book  Rainstorm of Tomorrow – The Ever-Flowing Banquet of Philosophy  matured during the author’s collegiate study of philosophy and economics, as well as his professional tenure in healthcare and biology; the shift wrought a cross-disciplinary mode of thinking, illuminating connections and contradictions that defy the boundaries of each subject. Excerpt from Healing from Incest (Henderson and Emerton): On the Writing of This Book: An Unusual Collaboration

Image
On the Writing of This Book: An Unusual Collaboration  During the final months of therapy with Seanne, more than ten years ago, I shared the idea of this book with her. Back then, it was just a curious “what if” sort of notion. I thought, “What if someone who could write and who has thought about this recovery process were to collaborate with her therapist on a book?” My initial thought was about how helpful it would have been for me to have had the chance to read such a book. After the conclusion of my therapy with her, I moved away and became very involved in my professional career as well as moving on to another therapist. I did revisit the idea of a book from time to time and three or four years later began to write. I approached Seanne again about the possibility of our collaboration. The problem was that other than collabo

Excerpt from Tale of a Mission Cat (Sula): Sitting with Someone Needing Comfort

Image
Sitting with Someone Needing Comfort There are many kinds of people to whom God sends me. All of them are hurting in some way, and it is my mission to help them hurt less. Some people have done bad things and don’t feel good about themselves. They don’t believe that God can forgive them, but God does. One person once told another parishioner, as I sat on his lap, that he had hurt animals when he was a child, had prayed about it a lot, but had never felt absolved even though he had spoken about it in confession. I guess that is why God sent me to him. He said that my sitting on his lap helped him to understand, accept, and believe that he had been forgiven.  Yes, of course, he had. As a cat whose like kind had been among those he had hurt, I forgave him, too. After all, if God forgives us, then we can forgive others, which, of course, is what He wants us to do. In some cases, I have a sad mission. Something bad is going to happen to the person who is my missio
