Author Interview: Interview with Cynthia MacGregor - A Posthumous Voice

This interview was taken several years ago but never ended up un the blog until now. Although Cyn has passed (recently), it seems as good a time as any to share her interview (and her legacy).

Name: Cynthia MacGregor

Book: Everybody’sLittle Book of Everyday Prayers

Date of Interview: 8/4/18

Who are you? What do you want readers to know about you? I’m the author of over 100 books, some for adults (mostly nonfiction
), some for kids (mostly fiction). I also do freelance writing for clients (biz writing, blog writing, ghostwriting, etc—just about anything except grant proposals) and editing (books, biz materials—whatever’s needed)

Why are you qualified to write this book? Although I’m an ordained New Thought minister, I feel my true qualification for writing the book is not my ministerial status but rather my desire to help other people connect to God as I have, and my God-given ability to write, which enabled me to create the prayers in the book.

What is the message of your book? What should be the take-away by readers? You don’t have to be a member of a church/synagogue/mosque or subscribe to a set belief system in order to have a close connection with God, and you can foster and enhance that connection through prayer.

What are you hoping the book will do for your readers? See question above

What details (including book structure) do you hope that readers notice? How/why did you choose these details/incidents/structure? The fact that there are many opportunities to pray besides the best-known ones (grace before meals, bedtime prayer), and while we certainly don’t have to pray on every one of these occasions, I hope the book makes readers more aware of the many other prayer opportunities in their lives.

In your opinion, what is the most memorable detail (saddest, most surprising, most emotional, happiest…) in the book?  Sorry—this question doesn’t resonate with me.

Why did you write the book? To bring people closer to God.

What was the most difficult part of the book to write? Why? To come up with all different prayers without being redundant/repetitious.

Have you written other books? Literally over 100—and that tally doesn’t include books I’ve ghostwritten for clients. Please visit www.cynthiamacgregor.com for specifics.

Do you have plans for writing more books? Hell, I’m not stopping now! People call me “the Energizer bunny” ’cause I just keep going and going.
