Cancer Diary: CEREAL??

There's been some concern about certain cereals containing trace amounts of glyphosate, an herbicide used in weed killers like Roundup. Some studies and organizations, such as the Environmental Working Group (EWG), have found levels of glyphosate in cereals like Cheerios that exceed their recommended safe limits. Glyphosate has been classified as "probably carcinogenic to humans" by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, but other regulatory bodies, like the EPA and FDA, have determined that the levels found in food are unlikely to pose a significant cancer risk.

Still, if you are concerned, be aware that Cheerios, Rice Krispies, and other popular cereals  have glyphosates.

However, here are some cereals that are known to be free of glyphosate:
  1. Nature's Path - Their cereals, including EnviroKidz and Organics, are certified organic and glyphosate-free.

  2. Cascadian Farm - Offers a variety of organic cereals that are free from glyphosate.

  3. One Degree Organic Foods - Their cereals are made from organic, non-GMO ingredients and are glyphosate-free.

  4. Go Raw - Known for their organic granolas that are free from harmful chemicals.

  5. Grandy Oats - Offers organic oatmeal and granola that are free from glyphosate.

  6. Zego - Their oatmeal and muesli products are certified organic and glyphosate-free.

These brands focus on organic and non-GMO ingredients, ensuring that their products are free from harmful herbicides like glyphosate.

Blog editor's note: As a memorial to Carl, and simply because it is truly needed, MSI Press is now hosting a web page, Carl's Cancer Compendium, as a one-stop starting point for all things cancer, to make it easier for those with cancer to find answers to questions that can otherwise take hours to track down on the Internet and/or from professionals. The CCC is expanded and updated weekly. As part of this effort, each week, on Monday, this blog will carry an informative, cancer-related story -- and be open to guest posts: Cancer Diary.
