Book of the Week: Everybody's Little Book of Everyday Prayers

About the Book
People are often at a loss to find the right words to say in prayer. Whether you're a believer but unchurched or are a devout member of a religion, if you wish to expand your home worship, finding the right words to say to God can be a problematic issue. The prayers in Everybody's Little Book of Everyday Prayers are nonsectarian-suited for Protestants, Jews, and Catholics, as well as unaffiliated deists who believe in God but not in organized religion. They cover a raft of occasions on which individuals or families may wish to say a prayer. If prayer is an integral part of your life, or you would like it to be, you'll find the help you want in Everybody's Little Book of Everyday Prayers.

Delightfully illustrated by Zhenya Yanovich of Moscow & Siberia (Russia) and Charlottesvile (VA< USA).

Review of the Book
From Readers' Favorite 5 stars):  ... The prayers are simple and the book covers prayers for every single occasion, be it calendar occasions, personal occasions, even moving into a new house or a child starting school; it's all there. ... The book gives everyone the confidence to talk to God, ask Him what they want, and trust Him and His power and presence. When one is at loss in life and does not know how to handle situations, the prayers in the book will help one to reach out and connect with God. Praying is very personal and each person has their own way of reaching out to God - this book encourages readers to do just that.

Interview with the Author

Who are you? What do you want readers to know about you?
I’m the author of over 100 books, some for adults (mostly nonfiction), some for kids (mostly fiction). I also do freelance writing for clients (biz writing, blog writing, ghostwriting, etc—just about anything except grant proposals) and editing (books, biz materials—whatever’s needed)

Why are you qualified to write this book?
Although I’m an ordained New Thought minister, I feel my true qualification for writing the book is not my ministerial status but rather my desire to help other people connect to God as I have, and my God-given ability to write, which enabled me to create the prayers in the book.

What is the message of your book? What should be the take-away by readers?
You don’t have to be a member of a church/synagogue/mosque or subscribe to a set belief system in order to have a close connection with God, and you can foster and enhance that connection through prayer.

What details (including book structure) do you hope that readers notice? How/why did you choose these details/incidents/structure?
The fact that there are many opportunities to pray besides the best-known ones (grace before meals, bedtime prayer), and while we certainly don’t have to pray on every one of these occasions, I hope the book makes readers more aware of the many other prayer opportunities in their lives.
In your opinion, what is the most memorable detail (saddest, most surprising, most emotional, happiest…) in the book?  Sorry—this question doesn’t resonate with me.

Why did you write the book?
To bring people closer to God.

What was the most difficult part of the book to write? Why?
To come up with all different prayers without being redundant/repetitious.

Have you written other books?
Literally over 100—and that tally doesn’t include books I’ve ghostwritten for clients. Please visit www.cynthiamacgregor.com for specifics.

Do you have plans for writing more books?
Hell, I’m not stopping now! People call me “the Energizer bunny” ’cause I just keep going and going.
