Every cat sleeps with their human for a reason — but in my house, the reasons are as varied as the cats themselves. Bedtime isn’t just bedtime. It’s a process , a queue , and occasionally a negotiation between species of wildly different sizes . JackJack: The Dedicated Bedtime Technician JackJack is the most affectionate of the crew, but also the most professional. He waits — patiently, politely, and with the solemnity of a cat who takes his job seriously — until I am fully settled on my incline. Only then does he climb aboard, arrange himself on the natural “shelf” created by my sleeping position, and begin his shift. JackJack does not sleep with me. JackJack commits to me for the night.
