Whether your child already loves reading about real/true things or not, you can encourage him to read more by stashing those kinds of books in some planned-out places. Many kids watch movies or play videogames in cars, in restaurants, in waiting rooms. Instead, try stashing some books that will capture your child’s interests in the car. Encourage him to “unplug” himself and read instead. Think about his interests (bugs? cars? space? volcanoes? ponies?) and begin collecting books. To save money, look for used books online and in used bookstores. Perhaps grab a special box or bag to keep the books in (or find a plain old one and let him decorate it!) and change th...
