Feast of St. Francis: A Day of Joy, Kinship, and Blessing

Image
October 4th marks the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi , a day of celebration, reflection, and deep gratitude for the life of the saint who saw all creation as kin. Known for his radical simplicity, love of nature, and unwavering compassion, St. Francis continues to inspire hearts across generations and traditions. Here in San Juan Bautista , the Franciscan legacy is alive and well. Transitus: A Sacred Threshold for MSI Press and San Juan Bautista

Image
Tonight, as the sun sets on October 3rd, Franciscans around the world gather in quiet reverence to mark the Transitus of St. Francis of Assisi—the moment of his passing into eternal life in 1226. It is not a time of mourning, but of deep remembrance and recommitment to the values he embodied: humility, peace, kinship with creation, and radical love. The rhythms of Franciscan spirituality—simplicity, hospitality, and contemplative presence—are woven into the very soil of this place. This evening is also deeply personal for MSI Press. Our editor is a Third Order Franci...

It's Caturday, and We Are Sharing Our Next Cat Book!

Image
We are hard at work on our next cat book, again by Sula, Parish Cat at Old Mission: Sula and the Franciscan Sisters . It is mainly a picture book, great pictures, some incredible pictures. We now have it available on pre-order for only $10! (Post-release price is anticipated to be $14.95.) We hope to have it out this month -- but not yet at the stage where we can promise a September release. This book is envisioned as a memorial to the Franciscan nuns who lived at the convent in San Juan Bautista for many years and helped to take care of Sula. How they loved her, and how she loved them! The beautiful pictures in the book show that. For more posts about Sula and her books, click HERE .
