  Some cats stroll into the vet’s office like they own the place. Others melt into a puddle of dramatic despair. And then there are the rare few—like our beloved Happy Cat —who react with such overwhelming terror that the trip itself becomes the medical emergency. Happy Cat arrived in our lives as a self‑rescuing stray, already four or five years old, already carrying the emotional history of a cat who had learned to survive without help. He trusted us deeply at home, but the moment the carrier lifted off the ground, he transformed into a creature in full physiological panic: heaving breaths, frothing at the mouth, near collapse by the time we reached the clinic.
