What is Traumatic Brain Injury?

  Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is an injury to the brain caused by an external force — a blow, jolt, or sudden acceleration that disrupts normal brain function. It can be as obvious as a severe head strike in a car accident or as subtle as a fall that “didn’t seem that bad” at the time. What makes TBI uniquely challenging is that the brain doesn’t have to be visibly damaged for the injury to be real, life‑altering, and medically significant. 🧠 What Actually Happens in a TBI A traumatic event can cause the brain to move rapidly inside the skull.
