A Publisher's Conversation with Authors: One Sad Story

  It is Tuesday. Monday's madness is over, and Wednesday will take us over the hump, so Tuesday it is--for some serious discussion with authors. Tuesday talks mean to address authors in waiting and self-published authors who would like to go a more traditional route or who would at least like to take their steps with a publisher by their side. This week, the topic is one not commonly discussed in public. These are the things that happen behind the scenes. Not knowing about such things can impede positive potential author-publisher relationships. Among these "things" is when an author engages the wrong kind of attorney, typically a well-meaning dealing with general law and not an intellectual property rights lawyer, who would be well meaning  and astute .
