How Does One Keep On Keeping On After a Disabling Event?

  Not through heroics. Not through the glossy “resilience” language that gets tossed around so easily. You keep going by learning to live inside a smaller circle of energy and possibility, and then slowly discovering that life still exists there. A disabling event redraws the map. The old routes disappear. The old assumptions about what your body can do, what your days will look like, what you can promise other people — all of it shifts. And the first truth is that you don’t “bounce back.” You build forward , with different materials. You keep on by letting yourself grieve the version of life that ended. By accepting help even when it feels like defeat. By finding micro‑victories — the small tasks that remind you you’re still capable. By relearning your body without shame.
