Book Review: Road Map to Power (Husain & Husain)

Review on Library Thing: First and foremost, I LOVE his message and I pledged myself to the Giving Pledge. You must read the book to get the true message. In the beginning of the book are listed the ten rules of power. Dr. Husain, M.D. uses stories to show you the way and the light. He even brings up the question "Why am I here?", and he answers it so eloquently. He is a devout Muslim. He quoted Pope Francis and St. Francis of Assisi. He also took similar quotes from five religions to show that the message is universal. He even said atheists can benefit from the message as well. This is NOT a religious book. It is meant for EVERYONE. It is a book well worth the read. It took me a bit longer to read this book because I wanted to study and ponder Dr. Husain's wisdom. I am so glad I did. My favorite story is about a young lady helping Dr. Husain during the war in Bosnia. She is Elma Dizdar, who risked her life to help save others. She gave a monumental speech regarding

A titan in the field of Child Psychiatry and a foremost expert in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Dr. Husain’s greatest impact was the result of his decades-long worldwide humanitarian work serving the most vulnerable as they coped with the grief and trauma in the aftermath of the unimaginable destruction of both natural disasters and human created war zones. The Story behind the Book: Road Map to Power (Husain & Husain)

Image
Today's blog post is the next in the series of book back stories and is the story behind Road Map to Power by Syed and Darius Husain. From the author -  The beginning for  Road Map to Power  occurred on the melting asphalt of a parking lot on a blistering Missouri summer day. It was there my father hitched a ride home from a work colleague named Bill. I will spare you the details of the encounter - you will have to read the book! - but the experience served as an inflection point in my father’s life. From many vantage points, Dr. Syed Arshad Husain was the American dream manifested. Born into humble beginnings, he immigrated to the United States and reached the pinnacle of his profession. On the way to the top, however, my father had drifted from the reasons why he embarked on the journey in the first place. His experience with Bill was a course correction and Dr. Syed Arshad Husain rededicated his life’s work to serving the most marginalized and forgotten in our society. In his

The Husains (father and son) have written a book, Road Map to Power , that has garnered a host of 5-star reviews on Goodreads (and elsewhere). Here are samples/excerpts from the reviews: Road Map to Powe r by Syed Arshad Husain and A. Darius Husain is a ground breaking self help book that touches on the history and pitfalls of human society. Road Map to Power is well-written and very readable. It follows a logical sequence with useful summing up sections at the end of each chapter, and includes references to many historical and significant people/events in order to explain various points. Book of the Week: Road Map to Power

Dormant for almost a year -- sadly so because this is one of the best books I have ever had the privilege to publish -- Road Map to Power , written by father-son team, Syed and Darius Husain, has gained a second wind this week, happily so because this book has the potential to change anyone's life for the better, way better, to bring real power into any life. This is exactly what both have spend their careers doing. The father, Dr. Husain, has changed many children's lives for the better hthrough his pratcice of medicine on an international level. The son, Mr. Husain, has created a school where struggling learners thrive, saving children in another way. And now their book offers the possibility to save the lives of many people in a very different way. A favorite!  And a Readers' Favorite award winner.

Image
Many thanks to Darius Husain, co-author of  Road Map to Power ,  for this guest post! Looking to stop the “summer slide?”  Start by challenging an outdated tradition.   As the last fireworks celebrating our nation’s independence bursts into the air, parents with school aged children across the country turn to one another and ask the question: “Now what?”  With summer break not even at the halfway mark, many families have already exhausted their once optimistic to-do list.     Parents are not the only ones feeling the heat.   What is the most joyful phrase for every student, “schools out for summer,” creates headaches amongst education experts concerned about academic growth and development.  These advocates are troubled by the negative impacts of the “Summer Slide” and the significant learning loss that takes place while students are away from their classrooms.    Yes, for some young people, summers are filled with family trips, camps, experiential activities, internships

Here is some information about Damascus.  C Damascus has a wealth of historical sites dating back to many different periods of the city's history.
