Caturday: One More Follow-Up on Cat Friends in Gaza (Cats in War)

Two weeks ago, our Caturday post focused on the plight of animals and their caregivers in war zones.  It focused as the first in a planned series on Animal Friends Shelter in Gaza City.

Animal Friends Shelter

Last Saturday, we updated the information available from Tamir and Samir, two selfless cat godparents weathering the war in Gaza City (and, of course, beyond).

This Caturday, we can report that we last heard from AFS yesterday. We know from the news reports that the Internet is not functioning in Gaza right now, but we hope and pray that AFS is able t continue caring for its family of cats, who, yesterday, were squabbling a bit over rationed food.

Animal Friends Shelter is on Twitter: Animal Friends Shelter (@AnimalFriendsAF) / X (twitter.com)

And for those who wish to donate (AFS is a charity) to help -- PayPal.Me. Now, with an invasion going on and the Internet is down, donations may take a while to get through and supplies may not be readily available even with donations, but, golly, if everyone would risk just $10, it would make a huge difference.

Sulala Animal Rescue

Sulala Animal Rescue has many dogs and some cats. They have taken in some animals from the streets but cannot help them all. Those animals they took in are dehydrated and hungry and, in some cases, have parasites. They are doing the best they can, given the situation. They are also sharing their food with other shelters/individuals trying to save the animals caught in war. Their page has pinned information about four ways in which non-residents can help them.

Mohamed Mosa Mo

Mo is doing his best to feed a large number of street cats and dogs in his Gaza City location. Rumors of his demise appear to be untrue since he posted as late as October 26, when he talked about the terror that the animals (and people of Gaza) were experiencing from the bombings and mentions that five members of his family (cousins) had been killed (perhaps a source of the mistaken information that Mo himself had been killed; he, so far, is safe). He happily accepts donations at:

We will cover each of these shelters and animal supporters in upcoming Caturday posts of Cats in War. (Yes, we know, Gaza is not the only place cats are living (or not) through wars. We will share the information on others in future Caturday posts.
