The field of socionics (personality type along the lines of Jung's theories) is fully covered in this book for American readers; the author is one of the leading socionists in Russia/Europe. The book for every one of us

"Understanding the People Around You: An Introduction to Socionics" by Ekaterina Filatova is the first book written by a well-known author in socionics that has been translated into English. A few years ago, the Russian version of this book, became my introduction into socionics. Since then the author has published several wonderful books; but this first one has extraordinary value. I always recommend this book to novices as it contains all the necessary information about the theory of socionics in a simple and concise form.

This book is a remarkable gift for those who want to understand themselves and others at a deeper psychological level and to gain insight into personal relationships from the perspective of socionics' theory

The description of the 16 personality types is the most valuable part of this book. Since this book was published other authors have created their own, often more detailed, versions of personality type descriptions. Nevertheless, I always recommend to novices to start learning about the types from Filatova's book. Her descriptions are not overloaded with information and are straight to the point, which makes them easier to understand, remember, and apply when you start practicing socionics.

I strongly recommend this book to everybody who is interested in human psychology and relationships. This book is addressed to the broadest audience - from high school students to elderly people; housewives to professional psychologists - everybody will benefit from the book! Enjoy it and have great fun!

  1948-2021 It is with great sadness that MSI Press notes the death of Carl Leaver, CEO of the Press and typesetter and graphic designer par excellence . Many authors have expressed not only condolences but also a sense of legacy from covers he designed that they love.  Here is his obituary: On August 16, 2021, Carl Don Leaver of San Juan Bautista passed into eternal rest. A forester with the US Forest Service in Idaho and Montana, he turned to nature photography while working in the Bitterroot National Forest. His photographs graced national magazine covers and on a weekly basis the local paper of Hamilton, MT, the Ravalli Republican. He later worked on photography projects for the US Army (AFEES) and taught photography at the New York Institute of Technology in Amman, Jordan.
