Jackson is gone; Lucy is all I have

Abod is a young man in Gaza, struggling to stay alive and to care for his sick cat, Lucy. Here is his story:

My dog’s name was Jackson. I cared for him and loved him with everything I had, but when the famine began, the occupation killed him in cold blood and left him to suffer and die from hunger. 💔

Today, all I have left is my cat, Lucy. I’m afraid of everything that could happen to her, and I’m doing everything I can to provide her with food because I can’t bear the pain of losing her too. I lost Jackson, and I don’t want to experience that loss again. 😢🐾 If you can, please help me, even with a small donation, to provide food for Lucy. And if you can’t donate, please share this post. Your share might be what saves her life. I’m not asking for much… I just want Lucy to stay alive.

You can follow Lucy and Abod on Twitter and communicate with him at @abodaljbour16.

If you wish to donate (even $5 helps and even $1 helps), you can do so safely through Chuffed:  Help support Abod Mohamed in this time of crisis | Chuffed | Non-profit charity and social enterprise fundraising (organized by Shene Othello)

Please share the story of Lucy and Abod!

And in your kindness, do not forget other needs that remain urgent:

Animal Friends Shelter (Gaza): rescuing every soul we can
Sharif (Gaza): For lack of $100, Lulu is dying [$70 still desperately needed, urgently]

This post continues a weekly Caturday series, Cats and Their People: Stories from Conflict Zones. Each installment will follow one person and their animals — in Afghanistan, Gaza, Israel, Syria, Ukraine, or wherever survival has become a daily act of devotion. Every story is told with the owner’s request to share. The aim is simple: to bring humanity into places where life has been stripped to its barest essentials, and to show how people and animals hold on together. When appropriate, each post will include ways readers can support the individuals featured.
