Mohamede is a university student, trying to help his family and especially to keep his two ill cats alive; all the kitties need right now is $140 for vet care for both of them. 

Here is Mohamede's story:

My name is Mohammed Al-Masri. I am 22 years old, a university student in my first semester, and part of a family of seven with no stable source of income. My father, 51, lives with a herniated disc, and my mother, 45, manages diabetes. We have two younger sisters, a brother who recently finished high school, and a middle brother who is 20. The weight of our situation is overwhelming, yet we hold onto hope.

Since October 7, war has driven us from our home and forced us to displacement—ten times in search of safety. During the famine, I faced the hard choice of going to aid distribution points under occupation, even when gunfire could interrupt our steps. These hardships have touched every corner of our family, and we have struggled to cover basic living expenses.

We are not asking for generosity that is not earned; we seek steady access to essentials—food, shelter, and healthcare for my parents and siblings. Your support would help us move from fear to stability, from scarcity to a future where I can continue my studies and contribute to my family’s well-being. 🌿🙏

  Authors frequently confuse LIST and NET and, in this way, end up with contracts that pay lower royalties when they believe that they are getting a good deal. Often, they cannot negotiate in ways that benefit themselves because they do not understand this difference and its significance. Let's break this down. List refers to the retail price of the book. Payment on list means a percentage of the retail price of the book. If royalties are 8% of list (5-8% is typical), then on a $10 book, royalties would be 80 cents; if they are 10%, royalties are $1, on every book sold.
