We built them a shelter amid the destruction, but keeping them fed remains a worry we carry every day.

Cats and Their People — Abdullah and Salam Gaza Shelter

To the beautiful friends who continue to stand beside Salaam Gaza Shelter, thank you for never forgetting the animals who depend on us. Your kindness means more than words can express.🤍🌸 In my devastated city of Gaza, even securing food for our shelter animals has become a daily struggle. Our supplies are running dangerously low, and we urgently need to secure their next meals. I still need you beside me. Together, we can make sure these innocent souls don’t go hungry.🥹🐾❤️🙏

Please share the story of Abdullah and HSalam Gaza Shelter!

And in your kindness, do not forget other needs that remain urgent:

update: Lucy may not have much time left. Lucy's condition is deteriorating. Her little body is growing weaker from malnutrition, and Abod has to watch her suffer while being unable to afford the food she desperately needs.

Update: We are facing two urgent battles at once: finding enough food for our children, our family, and our rescued cats, and repairing the damaged home that is supposed to protect us all.
The bombardment during the war left our home with deep cracks in its walls, holes in the roofs, and damage that urgently needs repair. As heavy rain, cold weather, and winter storms approach, these openings threaten to let water inside, leaving our living spaces damp, cold, and unsafe. Our children and family need a home that can protect them from the elements. The rescued cats in our care also need a dry, secure shelter where they can escape the cold and rain. We urgently need materials and repairs to seal the gaps, reinforce damaged walls, and make the roofs safer before winter arrives. We are terrified of facing another season of hardship without adequate protection.

Trying to make his next tuition payment.

Lucy [Bella's sister] is suffering from severe malnutrition. Her tiny body needs food and medical treatment, and I’m trying desperately to raise enough money, but I still haven’t reached the amount she needs.

Hadeel: From the heart of Gaza..Sukkar and I live despite death
🚨‼️8 days left, and I'm honestly terrified.💔
If we lose this room, I don't know how I'll keep Sukkar safe or find his food. He relies on me for everything. We still need $308 for rent. Could 62 people spare $5? Or please RT.

Sharif (Gaza): For lack of $100, Lulu is dying [$70 still desperately needed, condition worsening]

This post continues a weekly Caturday series, Cats and Their People: Stories from Conflict Zones. Each installment follows one person and their furs — in Afghanistan, Gaza, Israel, Syria, Ukraine, or wherever survival has become a daily act of devotion. Every story is told with the owner’s request to share. The aim is simple: to bring humanity into places where life has been stripped to its barest essentials, and to show how people and animals hold on together. When appropriate, each post will include ways readers can support the individuals featured.

Guest Post from Dr. Dennis Ortman: Words Matter

Image
WORDS MATTER “If I speak with human tongues and angelic as well, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong, a clanging symbol.” --I Corinthians 13: 1   My three brothers recently visited from afar. We spent a week together crammed into my small apartment. We exhausted ourselves talking about our lives and our favorite subjects--religion, psychology, and politics. I daily used up my quota of words. Many family and friends avoid talking about these subjects to avoid conflict. But we relish the give-and-take of debate. Coincidentally, the Republican National Convention was televised each night. We watched it diligently and exchanged views. Our convictions ranged across the political spectrum. So our conversations were animated, our disagreements passionate. However, at the end of the week, we learned something from each other and parted friends. Words matter. They have power. Our traditions attest to this fact. For example, God created the world with His word. He be...

In Memoriam: Carl Don Leaver

Image
1948-2021 It is with great sadness that MSI Press notes the death of Carl Leaver, CEO of the Press and typesetter and graphic designer par excellence . Many authors have expressed not only condolences but also a sense of legacy from covers he designed that they love.  Here is his obituary: On August 16, 2021, Carl Don Leaver of San Juan Bautista passed into eternal rest. A forester with the US Forest Service in Idaho and Montana, he turned to nature photography while working in the Bitterroot National Forest. His photographs graced national magazine covers and on a weekly basis the local paper of Hamilton, MT, the Ravalli Republican. He later worked on photography projects for the US Army (AFEES) and taught photography at the New York Institute of Technology in Amman, Jordan. His final career change led him to computer graphics and publishing as co-owner of MSI Press LLC; his many typeset books and book covers have helped MSI Press authors win a large number of awards over t...

Eternal Springs wins Literary Titan book award!

Image
Congratulations to Bruce Floren, whose book,   Eternal Sprins: Joy Found in the Book of John ,  received a silver award from Literary Titan. Book Description: What if joy isn’t optional in the Christian life—but essential? For many, religion feels heavy, demanding, and joyless. Yet Jesus promised life “to the full.” In Eternal Springs, the author draws from his deeply personal journey of leaving faith behind to pursue happiness, where he ultimately discovered that true joy could only be found by returning to Christ. Rooted in the Gospel of John and shaped by decades of lived experience, this book uncovers a vibrant, Spirit-led understanding of joy—not as shallow emotion, but as the divine energy that fuels love, grace, fruitfulness, and spiritual vitality. This is Christianity rediscovered: Joy that sustains rather than distracts Faith that overflows rather than burdens A life that becomes an attractive aroma to the glory of God Eternal Springs is for seekers, be...
